I certainly agree that BHRT for the rest of your life is better than the drugs you might take instead. That said, I remember that Dr. Brian Clement - he has been the director of Hippocrates Institute, where people come to heal many times after the doctors have told them there is nothing else they can do (all diseases, cancer, heart, etc so he has had a front row seat on what works and what doesn't and really understands the human body) - he has said that even with BHRT, he would like to see people take them only for 6 months. I can't remember the reason for this caution, I'll have to ask him. I do know that on this lifestyle of raw living foods, the body begins to regulate itself at a much higher level, even for post-menopausal women like myself. He said it would be easy to regain your balance with the right BHRT doctor, he didn't say they are easy to find. The Institute has one on staff in West Palm Beach, Florida - but he would be the first to agree you have to really look for the right one where you live, so your point is very well taken that there are too many out there who don't get it or are in it for the wrong reasons. Two points, however-----I plan on being on bioidentical hormones the rest of my life, for me this goes way, way beyond menopausal symptoms----the progesterone cream cured not only my hot flashes, but also restless leg syndrome, acid reflux and seasonal allergies in less than two weeks. I'd rather take BHRT the rest of my life than the 7 toxic drugs I am no longer on. Secondly, the last line of the article reads: "that’s easy to do under the care of a good bioidentical hormone therapy doctor." Right, now it's a lot easier said than done to find a doctor who: knows what he/she is doing with bioidentical hormones (a lot of the so called experts out there are just practitioners trying to make quick money off desperate women), and also to find a doctor who doesn't charge the cost of a house for a consultation. Most of the good BHRT doctors do not take insurance, and with the insurance system so broken I truly understand why, but some have absolutely no clue (or don't care) that most people live on a budget and cannot afford literally many thousands of dollars a year to be hormonally balanced. I have a list of resources for anyone who wants to find hormonal care in their area, just drop me an email at holyhormones@gmail.com ---- I've helped about 300 women this year and although it's a small number, it's at least 300 women who now are more educated about their choices in healthcare.
